 What is the purpose of advertising?

The purpose of an advert is to make people aware of a product/service. As well as without advertising there wouldn't be the various media that exists.

What is a target market?

A target market is the audience that a product is aimed at. In order to make for a product to appeal to their target market they have to make sure they know them so they will buy the product.

How does advertising work?

It gets people interested in a product so they can sell it

What is reach?

Reach is the number of people exposed to the advertisement

What is frequency?

Frequency is how often the advert is seen. Some ads need to be played to a wider audience only a few times and some ads are run repeatedly to the same small audience. Sometimes causing a small amount of controversy can generate pr.

What is USP?

USP is the unique selling point of a product. It is a feature that is different to other products to gain it attraction from the target audience.

How important is the USP?

USP is important as it can get the product more attention if it has a unique feature to it such as being more environmentally friendly or faster than another product.

What sort of elements does an advertising agency spend its money on?

An advertising agency will spend money on producing the advert.

Why might an advertisement fail? 

An advertisement may fail if it is not targeted at their audience properly and it doesn’t reach. As well as if it gets pulled and does not meet the regulations it can gain the wrong type of attention and make people not want to purchase the product. It can also fail if it is not original enough as it will not gain attraction from an audience if they have seen it before .
